Our Remedial therapists all undergo specific training and constant mentoring to maintain a high level of skill.
And remedial massage can be claimed on your private health via our hicaps machine.

Benefits of Regular Massage

Regular massage as part of a healthy diet and regular exercise can help reduce your risk of lifestyle related diseases and morbidity. Ancient populations used body work or massage to prevent and treat many illness, non-medicated pain relief and injuries. Not only does regular massage reduce stress levels, it also improves circulation which allows more oxygen and nutrients to be delivered to tissues, supports the immune system by stimulating the lymphatic system, reduces muscular tension by smoothing out muscular and fascial adhesions, speeds up recovery time by enhancing the musculoskeletal repair process as well as removing toxins and wastes from overused muscles, releases endorphins allowing a deeper level of relaxation and mental wellbeing and releasing energy blocks allowing for a better balanced chi or energy flow.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is great for fit active individuals. Not only can it be beneficial for athletes to improve their biomechanical performance it can also help with the psychological aspects of sport.
Unlike Remedial where the therapists select the technique they feel is best to relieve dysfunction, your pressure and techniques used in a Sports massage is dependent on where the client is in their training program. Therapist’s will use a combination of stretching, deep tissue, MET, PNF and active release as well as recovery massage after a big event to improve recovery times.

Your therapist will work with you to determine which style and techniques are required based on where the athlete is in their training program and how their body is reacting to that training program.

Triathletes achieve best results when receiving pre and post event massage with lighter pressure designed to flush the muscles groups ready for the athlete event or to promote recovery post event.

Heavy weightlifters and gym goers may need deeper pressure and Trigger Point Therapy to decrease muscles adhesions and improve joint range of motion to improve strength and muscle gains.

Relaxation Massage

A full body relaxation massage is perfect for anyone who has a busy lifestyle, needs some down time to relax or has general aches and pains.

All of our G-Vitalize Remedial Therapists are trained in Relaxation massage, also known as Swedish Massage.

Who is a relaxation massage good for?

A relaxation massage is best used for individuals under high stress levels or individual with poor circulation. As one relaxes their nervous system shifts from an alert, fight or flight state into a relaxed parasympathetic rest and digest state. This helps to lower cortisone which is a stress related hormone which increases one’s chance of weight gain, illness and hormonal dysfunction.

What is the pressure like in a relaxation massage?

The pressure is usually lighter in a relaxation massage however a firmer approach can be used just simply mention your pressure request with your Therapist.

Health Benefits of Relaxation Massage include:

  • Naturally lowers high blood pressure
  • Improves quality of sleep
  • Stimulates immune system by boosting white blood cells
  • Improves circulation
  • Decreases tense or hypertonic muscle
  • Naturally lowers stress levels
  • Aids in hormonal balancing
  • Natural way to help with depression and anxiety
  • Improves lymphatic flow

Dry Needling

Beneficial for muscle pain, dry needling is used to release myofascial trigger points and can be used for a variety of musculoskeletal dysfunctions.
The treatment is mostly pain free with some clients feeling only a slight twitch in the muscle during application.

What is Dry Needling?

This form of treatment uses very fine sterilised needles inserted into specific points in the body to reduce pain and muscle tension.

Is it safe?
Dry needling is a very safe form of treatment. Serious side effects are rare with an incidence of 0.02 per 10 000 treatment.
Are there any side effects?

Drowsiness may occur after treatment in some patients. If affected, you are advised to notify your Therapist and not to drive until the symptoms have resolved.

Minor bleeding / bruising occurs after dry needling in about 3% of treatments.

In a small percentage of patients, symptoms can become worse before improving. This is generally a sign that healing has begun. If the worsening of symptoms is concerning you or lasts for more than 2 days, contact your Therapist.

Fainting is rare, but can occur, particularly in new patients. To reduce the risk, it is recommended that you consume food within 2-3hours prior to treatment.

Local infections can occur if bacteria on the skin are introduced into a joint by the needle. This is very rare – 0.014% per treatment.

The risk of Pneumothorax (collapsed lung) is extremely unlikely (less than 1 in 70,000- 1.3 million) with appropriate technique. Precautions will be taken at all times to avoid any complications. Should you experience any shortness of breath in 24-hour period after treatment, please seek medical advice.

To minimize complications, we only use high quality needles, single-use, sterile, disposable needles that have TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) approval.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does an initial Remedial Massage long consult involve?

In an initial appointment your Remedial Therapist will get you to fill out some information on our New Client Health History form, then take you through to the consultation room to discuss your aches and pains, health history and previous treatments. They will then take you through the G-Vitalize FGM Screening Process to assess what areas require treatment.

Your Therapist will then discuss the best treatment plan going forward, including your massage and any home based movements or modifications to help your condition progression.

Can I use my health fund?
Yes, if you have Remedial Massage covered in your Private Health Fund Extras cover your Therapist can swipe your private health fund card on our HICAPS machine and you just pay the gap! Just the same as the Physio, Dentist or Chiro.
Which Therapist is best to book with?

Great Q! Each practitioner has their own skill sets and expertise, however, each of the G-Vitalize Remedial Therapist all conduct their initial assessments using the G-Vitalize FGM and regularly participates in Team Training to improve their skills. At the end of your first consults if one of our team thinks another G-Vitalize practitioner would be better suited to your healing journey they will discuss this with you at your appointment.

I haven’t shaved my legs, should I reschedule?
Ha ha wow we get this one a lot! Due to the fact we use oil on your skin we really don’t care if you have shaved your legs or not so please, do not stress!
Can I exercise post massage?
Due to the changes your body undergoes in a treatment we suggest avoiding intense exercise to let your treatment settle. Gentle exercise like walking and stretching is encouraged. If your session is specifically directly before a sporting event please book with Alec or Georgie who can provide a specific pre-sports massage.
I’m feeling a bit run down with a runny nose and sore throat, should I have a massage?
Great question! Although massage boosts your immune system, if you’re already battling a cold/flu or virus its best to reschedule your massage. This will allow your body time to heal as well as reducing spread form yourself to Therapist to other clients.
I need to cancel my appointment; will I be penalised?
G-Vitalize has a 24-hour cancellation policy for a few reasons. As your time has been specifically reserved for you. We may have had to turn away other clients wanting that time. Client payment directly impacts the Practitioners income as well so if you can give us as much notice as possible to fill the spot with someone who really needs it. Hence we would greatly appreciate as much notice as possible. A fee for loss of time may be charged. However, we do understand sometimes life just gets in the way so make sure to ask your Therapist about our 7 day make up policy in these circumstances.
